Skippers Welcome

Welcome Aboard fellow Alumni. This is the official Web Site of the United States Naval Academy Alumni Recreational Vehicle Chapter. We proudly exist to facilitate our members’ support of the Alumni Associations agenda and the U.S. Naval Academy. Our members are Alumni (about 100 members) from throughout the continental United States and Hawaii who either own an RV (pop-up trailer, motor home, travel trailer, 5 th wheel, camper Conversion van), or are just interested in RV's.  Our Chapter was founded by our President emeritus, Mike Stroop ’54, and was recognized as a nationally based chapter by the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association Board of Trustees in 1999.

Our membership is located through the United States and we hold periodic chapter meetings, (known as Come Arounds), in various locations where members gather in their RVs to enjoy alumni fellowship and to support the mission of the Naval Academy and the Naval Service, as members of the extended Brigade of Midshipmen. These Come Arounds are organized and led by volunteer 'Firsties', and consist of 3 to 5 days of camping together. During these Come Arounds we conduct Chapter business and enjoy warm comradeship.  We have Happy Hours, dinners, tours, campfires, sing alongs, and lots of old fashioned fellowship, where war stories are told and embellished, and Academy experiences are relived with an appreciative and knowledgeable audience.

To date we have held Come Arounds in the following locations: Huntsville,

AL (2 times); Pensacola, FL; Eufaula, AL; Orlando, FL;

Hiawassee, GA; Annapolis, MD; Letterkenny Army Depot,PA; Cottage Grove, OR; Seattle, WA; Plains, GA;Watts Bar, TN (4 times); Bardstown, KT; Dillard, GA;Key West, FL (4 times); Kings Bay, GA; Raystown Lake, PA; Titusville, FL; Eureka Springs, AR; Boothbay, ME, Buellton, CA; Charleston, SC, Hannibal, MO,San Antonio, TX, Kerrville, TX; Las Vegas, NV; Door County, WI. ; Point South, SC (near Beaufort); Williamsburg, VA; Gettysburg, MD; Lake Chelan, WA;Jacksonville, FL Attendance has varied from as few as 5 rigs to as many as 30 units at the 2001 National Come Around in Bardstown, Kentucky. We have had only 4 repeat Firsties, so almost everyone gets involved.

In the year 2006 we look forward to some really great Come Arounds, which are listed on this Web Site. You are invited to attend a planned Come Around or organize a Come Around and be the Firsty. If you have time for only one Come Around, don’t miss the National Come Around in Branson, MO in May 2006

To join our Chapter simply use the form available on this web site.

Hope to see you at a Come Around soon.

    Keep both hands on the wheel and be safe! Jim and Marie Roberts ’59 Roberts the Roamers
